President of Rising Tide Charters
I’m Colton Tompkins—competitive angler, entrepreneur, and founder/president of Rising Tide Charters. My mission is simple: to deliver the most extraordinary fishing experience possible, and to use that platform to help shape the next generation of leaders in angling, adventure, and life.
I’ve been drawn to the water since I was three years old, spending every summer exploring the Bruce Peninsula with a rod in hand and a drive to learn. By age 12, I was competing in bass tournaments across Canada and the U.S., fishing alongside some of the top professionals in the sport. That journey led me to the FLW Costa Series, where I earned a spot at the prestigious Costa Championship on Lake Cumberland in Kentucky. I’ve competed on legendary waters like Lake Okeechobee and Lake Simcoe—but no place has shaped me more than the Bruce.
But fishing is just the starting point. I’ve spent my life pursuing excellence—in sport, in business, and in character. As a leader both professionally and personally, I’m driven to grow constantly, stay focused, and bring out the best in those around me. Parents trust me to not only guide their children through an unforgettable day on the water—but also to model traits that last far beyond the boat: discipline, confidence, humility, and a relentless pursuit of purpose.
Rising Tide Charters is more than a service—it’s a mission. I’ve built a team that shares my commitment to making every guest feel seen, supported, and inspired. When your family steps aboard, you’re stepping into something bigger than fishing. You’re stepping into a culture of growth, mentorship, and joy—one cast at a time.

COO of Rising Tide Charters
Born and raised in Southwestern Ontario, I like to say I was raised with a rod in one hand and a hockey stick in the other. As a third-generation fisherman, the outdoors has always been more than a hobby—it’s a family tradition, and one I’m proud to carry forward as part of the Rising Tide team.
My journey as a high-level athlete has taken me across North America, including five years in the Ontario Hockey League, where I won a championship with the Hamilton Bulldogs. I’ve played professionally and continue to compete at a high level while earning degrees in Environmental Studies, Geography, and GIS Technologies at Saint Mary’s University—focused on the very ecosystems we fish in today.
Through it all, fishing has been my reset. It’s where I sharpen my focus, find peace, and reconnect to what matters. Whether I’m chasing salmon in the tributaries of Lake Huron or drifting steelhead rivers in the dead of winter, this lifestyle has taught me discipline, patience, and perspective—qualities I now pass on to the young men we guide at Rising Tide.
Lake Huron holds deep roots for me and my family. It’s where generations of us have chased salmon and built stories, and now, it’s where I get to help the next generation discover their own path. With expertise in salmon, steelhead, and walleye fishing across the Great Lakes and their river systems, I’m here to deliver unforgettable moments on the water—and to help create a future for youth who see the outdoors as more than a weekend hobby.
At Rising Tide, we’re not just here to teach fishing. We’re here to inspire confidence, educate through experience, and show young anglers that there is a path forward in this industry—if they’re willing to chase it.
I can’t wait to put you on fish, share what I’ve learned, and create memories that last a lifetime.
